Attempted double helix

This piece was inspired by a section in one of my watercolour paintings. I wanted my sculptures to have connections to my painting work, so the elements found in my sculptures aren't just a random jumble of shapes, they can be connected back to something. For this piece I did want to create a double helix through the middle, but my metal bending abilities aren't that advanced yet, so I figured out a simpler, but less effective way. I bent each piece of metal left and right to achieve small curves, then repeated this, so when they were placed on top of each other they would give the illusion of a double helix. This is the a more simplistic design I have made recently, it would have been more challenging if I were to be taught a double helix, that I would have thought would have been a good contrast to the extremely simplistic square frame.
